What are cognitive skills?

Cognitive skills are the mental processes that allow people to learn, reason, solve problems and adapt to new situations.
They influence how quickly someone understands information, makes decisions and performs in complex roles.
We are constantly using our cognitive skills, when we are crossing the road, judging how much milk to put in our coffee, or shopping for the best deal.
Although we all have cognitive skills, we all vary in how well we do things.

Why measure them?

Research* consistently identified General Mental Ability (GMA) as the best predictor of job performance and training success.
Every job role needs people who excel in particular fields. E.g. Having a very good memory would be a great skill to have if you wanted to work in a library.
Knowing an individual's cognitive skill set enables an HR team to better match individuals to roles.

Test Design and Methodology

There are many different types of cognitive assessments. Following extensive research, a bank of tests was selected as being primairily suitable for assessing the abilities required in an office-based workforce.
After identifying the most appropriate tests, our development team examined the underlying science and methodology behind each test. Using these foundations, the tests were designed from first principles, ensuring they remain faithful to the original concepts while benefiting from a more modern design.
This approach allows the assessments to maintain their scientific grounding while presenting them in a format that is more engaging and easier to interact with than many traditional “stock” cognitive tests.

Select one of our templates or create your own profile by choosing which of our cognitive tests you would like your assessees to complete and the length of each test.

Create Campaign

Set your goal, start and (optionally) end date, any additional text you want included in the email invitation.

Invite Assessees

Enter the details of those you want to assess and will instantly send an email invitation with a voucher [12 digit code] and instructions.

Use our QR code feature to encourage them to self apply.

Assessees Complete Assessment

Monitor activity, send reminder emails where required.

Review Results

There are two report formats, standard which is text based or premium which includes a detailed graphical report on each completed test. No need to create reports for line managers — just send them links with optional guidance. After reviewing a report you can record the "next stage" of that participant's journey.
